  • Dentex Saturday

Macy and I had three very different runs.

The first is why we run agility. She did everything I asked, ran reasonably fast and we Qed.

Second run, no matter what I did she just didn't get it.

Third run, she tried really hard, missed the last pole and was as slow as molasses.

    Interesting.

  • We did have more fun

So, the change in plan was to bring the girls in.

We found a small space so the girls would be able see most of the time.

As a result, I got to visit with friends.

I also discovered in Friday, that Dulce wasn't as brave as I thought so took her around to get socialized, few people can resist a small, cute beagle.

We had a good time in FAST with both girls getting the send, not not Qing, 28 points for Dulce and 23 for Macy.

We needed 50. Oh, and it two tries to get the send.

Then the blue norther hit, hit knocked my knee. I am fine sitting or standing but not walking, and forget running.

Karen Ertz tried to run JWW with Macy but that didn't work out, neither did my trying Standard. Another friend wanted to try, but she has never run her.

I did JWW with Dulce but it didn't go well but she did get the weaves and stayed with me.

I am staying home if the knee isn't better in the morning.

  • Both girls got their sends in FAST

It took both of them two tries but they got it. No Q as we ran out of time.

Gene Downing is a kind judge, moving Dulce to the front of the 16s plus he let her run after she headed out of the ring but came back.

  • DAWG – 11/20/11 – 1 Q

Novice Fast – she tried hard but I keep pushing too hard and she missed the send.

    Open Standard

Only one weave bobble. But the judge also called Refusal and I can't figure out where that happened.

Thinking about it, I think the second refusal came from lining her up at the weaves.

    Got her teeter!

    Open JWW

nailed it with 10 time faults. Definitely will take it.

First run, didn't want to be here, and each run got progressively better over the weekend.

    Novice FAST

Just wasn't into agility this run, even though she wanted cookies.

    Open JWW
Wasn't into this run either. Lost her twice.

    Open Standard
Macy went around jump 2, for one refusal and went into the third pile of the weaves for the second. Wasn't slow and not paying attention – best run of the day.

  • Great October!

Macy and I just finished our last competition for October, we’re competing again in November.

    Great little mini-season!

Went back to Open Preferred and got:

      • 1st Place – Novice JWW
      • 1st Place – Novice JWW
      • 1st Place – Novice Standard
      • 2nd Place – Novice JWW
      • 2nd Place Novice Standard
      • 1st Place Novice Standard
      • 1st Place Open Standard
      • 1st Place Open Standard

Qing 8 out of 12 times.

Since it took us 2 years and 3 months to get out of regular Novice Standard, I was scared to go back, but now I am glad I did.  I’m gaining lots of confidence in her.

Today’s problem was that it was just too hot for her.  The rest of the time she’s run really well, and only mistakes were pushing too far out.  Yesterday was a good example of that – I pushed her to a tunnel but instead of going in it, she ran the outside.  I didn’t notice until it was really too late to fix it.

  • Dulce

All of the us have been affected differently by the car wreck.  My husband and I have trouble sleeping, Maggie had blood in her stool, and Macy went lame.

Dulce lost her brain.  There is a certain point in training my beagles, where they lose focus.  Dulce lost her brain and hasn’t had it since the accident.   I believe part of the reason is that she hasn’t been able to run around the yard like a crazy dog, and that’s a stress reliever for her.  She’s done a lot of running around like a crazy dog in class.

Last night, she had one really bad run, then got it together and was better each sequence.  I’m still pulling her November entries, and have decided yet about December.

  • Good Macy Saturday

    We still have runs today.

Yesterday we Qed in both Novice Preferred Standard and Novice Preferred JWW.  The JWW Q was her third, so we moved up to Open Preferred for today.  We need one more Novice Preferred Q.

I was worried about going back to Novice since it took us so long.  The good news is that we are gaining confidence in each other by going back and being successful.  I think we’ll stay in Preferred until January and look at it again.  I also think that after this fall’s shows are over we’ll start jumping 12” in class and see what that looks like for her.

I’m also going to assess Dulce tonight.  While we were out of the house, she was running around like a wild child in class.  Since we’ve been in the house for a week, the need for that SHOULD be gone.  If she is a wild child tonight, I’m pulling my November entries, and not entering her again until January.

  • Back home

We returned to the house Saturday evening.  It’s not done, but I’m glad to be here so I can find the little problems so the contractors can be in and out end of day on Monday.

It will be months before things are back together.  Imagine moving and doing new carpet in all your rooms at once!

I slept better than I did in the apartment.  Not saying a whole lot.  And it really felt good to have the whole family together.

  • Macy’s Novice Run–GCCKC Trials–Oct 1

We had a very nice run in Novice Standard, however, she bailed the teeter, and bobbled weaves.

JWW was great!  Clean except we both bobbled the weaves, causing 13 time faults.  We never have been able to figure out 6 poles.
