  • Blogging in Windows 8 and Word 2013

I have been doing my last few blog posts with Word 2013, by going to the Windows 8 Start thing, picking Word 2013, picking the blog template and filling out the template.

I have one account set up so far. This one, and it’s pretty smooth and slick to blog with.

I need to take a moment and get the others set up.

    Setting them up took moments.

  • Windows 8 and Moodle Server

I was able to plug in my external drive, assign it to drive letter M:, fire up my LAMP server and get to the Moodle site stored on the drive and do some work on it, so that’s all pretty cool.

    So I’m making progress.

  • Windows 2013 Issue

My next Windows 8 issue had to do with installing the Windows 2013 issue. Seems I couldn’t install the Beta along with the real Windows 2010. Have no idea why – the install hung and never did happen, but as long as I don’t install Office 2010 I seem fine.

Since I don’t really have a need for Office 2010 on this machine and intend on buying Office 2013 when it comes out, I’m cool with running the Beta.

  • Windows 8 Issues

I’ve completely restored my Sony Laptop twice.

One issue is when I have gone to support, they have no clue on how to operate Windows 8 at all, it would be amusing if I wasn’t actually trying to get support.

The first support issue was that my laptop wasn’t charging. I have had that happen twice now, and I think it is related to VMWare. I also think that’s why my camera picture disappeared, the second reason I went to support.

So first issue is Sony’s tech people need to learn Windows 8. They also need to do a bit better about communicating in English but hey, it’s not like they work for Dell, I expect some lower level English.

  • Windows 8 and Flash

Seems I can’t get Flash to work. Probably don’t care one way or another. And the Adobe Flash website directions are just flat confusing.

  • Windows 8 Frustration

I have a new Sony Vaio Touchpad that I was really liking until a kid asked me what I thought of the web camera in it. Tried to pull it up, and knew it was working last weekend, but man, the light was coming on, but no picture.

Tried to get help with Sony Live Chat, but they almost know Windows 8. Can’t knock that too much as I am in the same boat. But they couldn’t get it to work either.

Ended up restoring the laptop and it is working now, and will be checking after I install each app to see what broke it.

    Weirdness.

  • Blogging with OneNote 2013

So OneNote 2013 also lets you blog — I have to check with OneNote 2010 since I don’t think I’ve tried.

I am also trying drawing with the touch screen in this entry.

Though blogging with OneNote sends your post to Word, which is a bit odd. And it doesn’t complete preserve the drawing.

  • Office 2013

I download Office 2013 and am playing with it. Liking it for a blog client. Pretty easy to use, probably as good as writer.

  • Sony Vaio T Series Ultrabook

    Got myself a new computer.

Went up to the Frisco Microsoft Store to see the Surface. Was disappointed that they don’t run Legacy programs and they had some Sony Vaio Touch Screen computers that felt nice so I went home with one.

    Using it now.

    6 gig of memory

    500 gig hard drive

    Feels good in the lap

    Liking it so far.

So I’m blogging with Office 13 and Windows 8

By the way, this was the computer that I was going to get this summer, but didn’t because Windows 8 was coming out.

  • Windows 8 and Lanschool

Lanschool works!  Just annoyed my Advisory group with Windows 8, so I’ll be showing it off today and tomorrow.
