{"id":1278,"date":"2006-09-05T20:03:13","date_gmt":"2006-09-05T20:03:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kweaver.org\/cs\/myspace-safar\/"},"modified":"2006-09-05T20:03:13","modified_gmt":"2006-09-05T20:03:13","slug":"myspace-safar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kweaver.org\/cs\/myspace-safar\/","title":{"rendered":"MySpace &#8211; Safari"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have been curious about MySpace after all the media reports and what my fellow teachers have said.&nbsp; Plus several of my students requested that they learn about MySpace.<\/p>\n<p>After the walkouts, my district has blocked MySpace so we can&#8217;t do anything in the classroom, but I do plan to talk about it soon.<\/p>\n<p>The good news, is that Safari just made a book availabled called &#8220;My Space Unraveled: A Parent&#8217;s Guide to Teen Social Networking from the Directors of BlogSafety.com&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>By the way, BlogSafety.com is worth checking out.<\/p>\n<p>I like the book so far, and I like their approach &#8212; don&#8217;t try to control your teenager but do teach them to act responsibility.&nbsp; That&#8217;s what I try to do.<\/p>\n<p>I personally prefer leaving the websites on and getting onto kids when they go to the wrong place or at the wrong time.&nbsp; I don&#8217;t get to make all those choices, as the district does use Websense to block things.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have been curious about MySpace after all the media reports and what my fellow teachers have said.&nbsp; Plus several of my students requested that they learn about MySpace.
