{"id":593,"date":"2010-08-03T14:38:35","date_gmt":"2010-08-03T14:38:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kweaver.org\/cs\/early-start-progress\/"},"modified":"2010-08-03T14:38:35","modified_gmt":"2010-08-03T14:38:35","slug":"early-start-progress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kweaver.org\/cs\/early-start-progress\/","title":{"rendered":"Early Start progress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We\u2019re in Day 2, and we still have twice as many kids as we did last year.&#160; They are VERY cool kids.<\/p>\n<p>I started with Alice (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.Alice.org\">www.Alice.org<\/a>) and had the kiddos do the 4 tutorials.&#160; Some finished yesterday. <\/p>\n<p>Today I started out by showing the school website, especially calendar and how to find it (we\u2019re the second hit on a Bing search using Hillcrest High School Dallas and 3rd on a google search).<\/p>\n<p>After the tutorials, I have them look at the same worlds and then let them loose to explore.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow, I\u2019m going to show them how they can do a web page in Word, Powerpoint and then show them Dreamweaver.&#160; Then I\u2019m going to cut them loose and see what they come up with.<\/p>\n<p>Last day, movies.<\/p>\n<p>The other elective teacher and I are swapping kids next week.<\/p>\n<p>The beauty of my \u201ccurriculum\u201d is that I can go with the flow, give them a taste of my courses, and a feel for how I teach \u2013 basically give them a set of assignments and let them go.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We\u2019re in Day 2, and we still have twice as many kids as we did last year.&#160; They are VERY cool kids.
