  • EAS Ready to Drink Shakes

With SlimFast off the market, I was forced to find another "Ready to Drink" shake that is high in protein.  Wish I had been told about the EAS brand sooner.

I've purchased and liked their Advant Edge, Carb Control.  The taste isn't bad, and their protein to carb ratio is better — 17 grams of protein to 4 g of carb.  That means I use less insulin — Slim Fast is 10 g protein to 24 g of carb, which I don't like near as much and won't be going back.  Even the high protein is 15 g protein to 24 g of carb.

Since this is what I have for lunch, and breakfast when I'm not at work, I'm glad I found a better product.

  • Monday

Bloodsugar is 149.  Weight is down, but not as much as I would like.  I know what to do though.

I went back to my "fired" chirapractor, and he did listen, and did work on my knee.  It was better until I got my 40 minutes in on the treadmill, and is still bothering me some today, but I expect that.  It took me a while to get the whole 40 minutes in, but I did it.  Tomorrow might be problem.  It's a pretty full day.

My gastro doctor's office cancelled my appontment and it is rescheduled for next week.  It's a follow up, and I am cool with everything, so I'm not anxiouls about the appointment.

I've ordered a late Christmas present for my husband — a picture of "his dog" and a calendar for myself.  They are both on the way.  My Zune HD Order is completed, but don't have a shipping date.  I really miss my Zune HD, and my chiropractor noticed it was missing too.

Haven't heard anything from school on that incident, but I'm not surprised.

  • Sunday

Well, I actually gained a little bit yesterday so analyzing what I did, and stopping it.

Did walk 40 minutes yesterday and it did take less time to get it accomplished than Saturday.  Got all but one load of laundry fnished — last one is still in the dryer, and I need to get things put away.

    Morning blood sugar is 125.

Have a followup appointment with the gastric doctor today.  Will have to tell her, can't do a colon scope right now, as can't deal with the necessary diet.

I'm slowly putting "sleep in the bank".  I've been able to keep close to my "normal" hours of 10:00 pm – 6:00 pm, but was able to sleep a couple of extra hours yesterday in the middle of the day.  That can be a problem since I often have trouble going to sleep at the right time, but it wasn't yesterday.

My biggest problem with sleep right now, is getting over my Zune being destroyed.  Hopefully they will send the new one on it's way soon.

  • My birthday was good

Got some Christmas done.  Got my nails done.

Got my eyes checked — and my astigmatism is back.   Weird, as it was gone when my blood sugar was completely out of control.  Now that it is better it's back.  Very weird.

Did almost 40 minutes on the treadmill.  (Stopped at a total of 37, I think?)

Weight is stable today, blood sugar started out at 124 so things are on the uphill.

Sleeping is weird, I was so sleepy yesterday, partly because I woke up early and disturbed about the incident on Thursday/Friday with the MP3 player.  I purposely am keeping close to school hours.

Husband gave me camera I wanted to played with it.  Bought some more memory cards as you can't have to many and took some pictures.

Generally what I wanted.  A relaxing day.  If the rest of the break can be like that, I might make it.

  • Today’s my birthday

    I turn 50 today.

I've done lots of things to make 50 better, and am making progress towards them.  The lap band surgery is finally working, blood sugar is better than it's been, and I've been able to be active every day this week.  Hoping that I can keep it up.

The best thing, is that I'm off work until January 4th and only have a couple of small projects to work on.

The worst thing, is that one of my students vandalized personal property and I'm trying to get over that.  Wish I had gotten a bit more sympathy from the PLN, but that's okay.

  • Losing Weight

After Monday's debacle, I am losing weight again.

Was reminded yesterday why I don't eat food at school.

And one good thing about in-law visit … besides seeing them … is that she left some EAS protein drink behind.  It's as filling and has better protein to carb ratio and found them at Kroger's last night at a pretty good price.

  • Going back in the right direction

Slowyly headed back in the right direction after a tough day on Monday.  Seeing a new support person and she had suggested I try going to a liquid diet for four days and that completely backfired between being tired, stress from in-laws, etc.

So my scale went back up 4 pounds in the one day — yikes!  My blood sugar went up accordingly, etc.

Things are back down today, but not the 4 pounds, sadly.

Lesson learned, which unfortuantely I knew, but she didn't, and I didn't want to argue.

  • Bolus Rates

First, I'm waking up low in the morning, so can probably lower the night time basal rates — that's one of the first things I had to change after the surgery so I'm going in the right direction.

My #bs was at 170 after my mocha, but I am drinking it faster than usual today, plus that was only .25 units correction, so that's pretty good.  Going to leave that one alone for a few days.

  • Recalculations

Did some pump tweeking because I've been going to low a lot this weekend.  Seems I've been on agility rate since at least my last agility trial, which is about 20% higher basal rate than my normal week rate, and about 10% higher than a normal weekend rate.

So I'm on my week rate this week.

Also using the rules of 1500 and 1800, I changed my bolus rates.
