  • Day 6

So far, no outside food.  Finished off the eggs I had in the refrigerator when I had a low today.  I know it sounds weird but I treated the low with carbs but really still felt like I needed to eat and for me, protein stops the munchies after a low.

I let my blood sugar get down to 67 which wasn’t smart.

I definitely need to consume something every two hours when I’m doing the liquid thing, or figure out my blood sugar better.  Probably a combo of the two.  I’m alternating Slim-Fast shakes with bars right now, but will eventually eliminate the bars too.

Walking on the treadmill is going better.

I did skip dog agility today.  And withdrew my entries for next month.  I think that I just need to hold off until I’ve lost some weight and feel better.

Hopefully will be able to do better starting with the August trials.

  • Shoulder

My shoulder has become a lot like my knee.  I know it’s there but most of the time I can tolerate the pain.  The chiropractor has helped, though at first I thought not. This week, I came in aching, he did the adjustment first and it stopped hurting.  I will say any kind of massage helps it too.

I am really hoping that a lot of the pain will go away when I lose weight.  I’m certain it will help the knee.

I did get some "outside" food tonight — had a massage appointment and a tad low when I was done so stopped at a local Mexican fast food restaurant and got grilled chicken and tortilla soup.  I tossed the tortillas though.

I let Diet Gourmet know what was going on when I picked put food this weekend and they are hopeful for me.  Husband will still be eating food there, and I’ll taper off this month, and pick back up once I’m healed.

  • Pysch Evaluation Scheduled

My psych evaluation is scheduled for March 16th – first day of spring break.  Also, it’s covered by BCBS.

Took a little doing — I wanted to make sure everything was arranged ahead of time, so I emailed last week.  No response.  Called.  No response.  Emailed a different address. Got a phone call on the home phone.

Funny, one of my teacher friends said, "you are so lucky". And as I explained to her, you make your luck.  You tell people what you want, you positively reinforcement them when they get it, and you politely let them know when you don’t get what you want.

However, I will admit to abusing tech support poeople who don’t speak English.

  • Transition Day 4

I made it through Day 4.  No outside food.  Forgot my breakfast, luckily I had enough Slim Fast stuff to make it, which is good, it is a rehearsal for next week.

I’ve just gone through several weeks of our Diet Gourmet meals and am slowly reducing calories, especially carbs.

Also managed to do 11 minutes on the treadmill.

  • Transition Day 3

I have made it 3 days without eating "outside" food.  I've either done Slim-Fast shake or bar or have eaten something that was already in the house.  Hate to see the hit on the economy BUT I have to think of me first.

Weather has been warmed so the arthritis is better.  Even managed a short walk on the treadmill which I haven't managed since Friday.

  • Transition – Day 2

Had a Slim-Fast bar late in the afternoon when I was bored and just wanted something to eat.

Then when I really wanted to eat on the drive home, drank a Slim-Fast shake. Chocalte isn’t too bad.  Had a bowl of light Progresso soup when I really wanted to go to a restaurant and get something, and a bar before I went to bed as my lower blood sugar made me a bit nervous.

TDD is around 120 vs. 150 average last week and TDD was around 120 yesterday too.

  • Transition started

I replaced my agility snack with a Slim Fast — french vanilla, wasn’t bad.

  • Fourth Weight Loss Visit done

Since I woke up feeling like doggy doo doo and couldn’t get 2 minutes away from the bathroom, when I woke up feeling a bit better, I called TLC Edge to see if their dietician had an opening today — this way I got the same lady I had for my last visit, and the same one I get in April and May, I think.

Anyway, I had gained more weight but expected that since I wasn’t putting a lot of effort into it.

I’d already come up with a plan with the dietician agreed with.  Since I have to be on a liquid diet for many weeks, probably several months and transition back to it periodically as part of the lap band surgery, I am going to start transitioning to it now, and I am going to focus on the time of day that gives me the most trouble — evening.

I’ve picked up some Slim-Fast bars and shakes and I am going to start with that this evening.

I’m also going with Slim-Fast during the day at the agility trial — as I don’t get to eat much there anyway with the schedule we have now.

Here’s hoping that it goes well.

  • WaveSense Jazz glucose meter

    I was sent a
WaveSense Jazz glucose meter and I like it.  It was well packaged and came with 20 strips.   I would definately consider using it if I wasn’t using the One-Touch Ping.

There are two really good benefits to the Jazz — size, it is truly one of the smallest meters on the market, and no coding. I don’t have any problems with coding but then I’m a technology junkie and can see where it can be a problem to a less sophiscated user.

It is certainly comparable in size and convenience to my favorite meter — the Accu-Check Compact plus.  Similar size once you pack everything up.

If you are interested in this meter, the WaveSense Jazz meter is available exclusively at http://www.diabeticcareservices.com/ and http://www.diabeticexpress.com/.

  • Step 2 Done

I just got word from my case manager that they got the medical history from my primary care physician they needed.  This was a bit of a pain, as the first go around, the primary care physician only gave them 2 years.  I’m glad I’m working in advance.

I’ve sent an email to my shrink about the psych evaluation but haven’t heard anything back. I have an appointment with them on March 15 so I want to have that paperwork done that week.  I guess I’ll call the week before and remind them I want it done.  I am figuring on having to pay extra fees for it.

Next week will be week 4 of my "medically supervised diet".  I’m going to ask for additional help in trying to lose weight since I haven’t been successful so far.
