Diabetes Mine: The Flap About Meds in the Mail

I commented briefly on Amy’s blog — I find getting insulin shipped in the mail pretty stressful, and here’s an example.

This time it is depo prevera also temperature senstive, but in this case, needs to be kept at room temperature.

I ordered a refill on 2/22/04. I received a phone call a day or two later asking me when I wanted it shipped — it was an automated call, and it asked if I could received the depo on March 2.

That’s perfect as that is when the pump is due.

However, I go out to the website and it currently says they are shipping on March 04.

March 04 is on Friday, which means if they do it Fed Ex Residential Saturday service, I’ll get it on Saturday. I was planning to be away from the house on Saturday to a Diabetes Expo.

    Very weird.

  • BLOG Anniversary

I just realized that I missed my blog anniversary again. Heck, I’d forget to acknowledge my birthday if I didn’t have a sister born on that day.

    Seriously.

But this blog has now been in existance for over 2 years. Nothing bad so far has come of it, but that’s because I know better than to post about things that will get you in trouble.

Lots of good things have come of it I think. I certainly get a lot of what other people right.

  • Pump is in Dallas!

The IR1250 is sitting in a box somewhere here in Dallas. Wish I could just go pick it up.

    It’s scheduled for delivery tomorrow.

I’m also going to get my teeth worked on in the morning.

  • Tooth Problems

I’m going back to the dentist on Wednesday. He’s been keeping an eye on a bottom tooth, and it just started screaming at me this weekend. I don’t know if that’s why I choose the wrong foods last night, or if the wrong food aggravated it, but I’m glad I’m getting it fixed before we go off to Monte Carlo.

By the way, that’s in 1 week and 5 days. I’m not counting or anything yet.

  • See — ANOTHER one!

See, another one complaining about food in relation to blood sugars.

  • New pump

I have heard from several people on the insulin pumper’s list that their 1250’s have arrived, so Animas is definately shipping.

Also emailed the guy I ordered from and he said it was still on, but email tomorrow to verify (and I hope get a tracking number).

I’m very VERY excited, as the new pump has the alarm features I’m wanting — mainly the capability to alarm after a meal.

So, in less than 2 days I should be wearing it.

  • And a blog on pumping

Here’s another pumper — not sure who she is — wonder if she’s on insulin pumpers.
