  • Better today

Though I felt so bad last night, anything would be better.

My throat isn’t burning as bad as it usually does when I wake up, and my blood sugar is lower than it’s been in ages in the moring – 137!  Usually over 210.

Almost made it to the gym, though hard about it.

  • By the way, the medical establishment doesn’t get diabetes

Okay, the diabetes specialists do.  But the average doctor?

I had admitted to the lapband surgeon I saw today that my diabetes was out of control.  When she noticed I had an insulin pump, she asked “doesn’t it know what your blood sugar is?”

She even has a friend who is getting a CGMS, but didn’t know that they didn’t work well.  I will admit I haven’t wore one in a while, but my skin rejected the sensors and never gave me very good readings.  I’m hoping they work better now, but I’m not willing to be the guinea pig again, anytime soon.

  • Recap of the day

So I got a full gym workout down – cardio and lower body.

Got to the doctor’s office and they had my appointment set up as a new patient, not as a post-surgical patient.  Will teach me to go to the doctor’s office rather than the lap band place.

I got an unfill as my esophagus is stressed from being too tight too long.  Maybe everything will go better now.  I should be on a semi-liquid diet for a day or two, even though the office didn’t tell me to do that.

Need to have a follow up swallow at TLC Edge in a month.

  • Lapband maintenance

Got an infill. Didn't ask hope much. Need a check in a month.

Sad the esophagus problem is common with too tight of a band.

  • Upper GI

This was the mist extensive upper GI I have had and got the most interesting results.

It’s not that I reflux but that I don’t have the correct mobility in my esophagus.

    Band looks good, though.

  • Irritated

So now I am irritated. I thought I had made an appointment for lapband maintenance including a barium swallow and apparently I didn't.

I have to wait until 2:00 pm to get the swallow and I don't know if I can get a lapband adjustment today.

Whew- doctor will see me after. House isn't getting organized, nor is the car.

  • Taking Care of Me

Switched to the new CPAP mask last night. Same model as before but even that takes some adjustment.

Slept well but not enough hours.

At the gym and planning cardio and weights.

  • Take Care of Me Day

Tomorrow is Take Care of Me Day and I am seeing a new doctor to get my lapband checked.

At the gym. Wish I could make it in the morning but blood sugar is still too high .

  • Getting back on track–again 🙁

So now that the energy/time suck know as the robot isn’t active, I’m trying to get back on track on taking care of myself.

Blood sugar was WAY too high to get moving this morning.  I do have time this evening to do my 20 minutes on the bike so not worried.

Morning bolus didn’t get me low enough, but that could have been a side effect from the morning blood sugar so I’m holding off on that.  Breakfast basal worked.

Getting new CPAP stuff (mask, etc) this evening on the way home from school – ordered that a few minutes ago.

Seeing bariatric surgeon to get lapband looked at on Wednesday.

I think I have all the bases covered.

And I did drop my first basal to 6 units.
