{"id":1233,"date":"2009-05-17T19:40:40","date_gmt":"2009-05-17T19:40:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kweaver.org\/diabetes\/the-back-story\/"},"modified":"2009-05-17T19:40:40","modified_gmt":"2009-05-17T19:40:40","slug":"the-back-story","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kweaver.org\/diabetes\/the-back-story\/","title":{"rendered":"The Back Story"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So why<br \/>\nam I putting myself through this anyway?<\/p>\n<p>Well, the past few years have been a bit difficult for my physically, but I hit the wall last fall.&#160;&#160; I gained 20 pounds from August to October.&#160; When none of my clothing fit, I realized I need to do something.<\/p>\n<p>The first thing I did was find clothing that fit.&#160; It helped a bit.<\/p>\n<p>The second thing I did was to find someone locally who could help me with the weight.&#160; I looked into TLC-Edge because they had both a medical program and a surgical program.&#160; I didn&#8217;t even walk into this thinking &#8212; oh, I&#8217;m going to do to surgery.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, I&#8217;ve been violently opposed to gastric surgery for a long time.&#160; I really felt, and I do feel that now, is that surgery is for the last resort.<\/p>\n<p>So I sat down with a nutritionist and came up with a plan.&#160; The good news, I stopped gaining weight, but couldn&#8217;t lose.&#160; That went on for several months, we&#8217;d come up with a plan and I wouldn&#8217;t lose weight.&#160;About three months after that, I decided that I needed to go for the lap band.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s what I&#8217;ve been working towards for the past few months.&#160;Sadly, I&#8217;d found that the only way I can lose weight now is through liquid diet, and I am hoping that will change with the Lapband.&#160; My biggest problems are portion control and stress eating, and I&#8217;m working hard on both.&#160; I&#8217;m hoping that Lapband will make the portion control much easier.<\/p>\n<p>And my goal &#8212; is to be able to have fun at dog agility trials again.&#160; <\/p>\n<p>Working out is still difficult, stairs are still difficult, but then I&#8217;ve only lost a few pounds.<\/p>\n<p>Good news, less than 3 1\/2 days to go.<BR\/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So why am I putting myself through this anyway?
