It is estimated that 5-10% of Americans who are diagnosed with diabetes have type 1 diabetes.<\/p>\n<p>Type 2 diabetes <br \/>\nResults from insulin resistance (a condition in which the body fails to properly use insulin), combined with relative insulin deficiency. Most Americans who are diagnosed with diabetes have type 2 diabetes.<\/p>\n<p>And it is a good thing to make sure how you are differentiating the two.<\/p>\n<p>According to the IC9 codes, Type 1 is insulin dependent and Type 2 is non-insulin dependent.
