I’m on Humalin 75/25 — Lilly does give you a nice leather case to keep up with stuff with.

Your sliding scale insulin — I personally am very uncomfortable when my blood sugar is over 150. Thus, I keep my sliding scale insulin with me at all times. This means I also have to carry needles. Unfortunately I haven’t found a nice case for this.

Your blood sugar monitor. Never change your blood sugar without knowing what it is. If you are on a sliding scale, you need to check your blood sugar to make sure it is going the right direction. You also need to be able know if you are heading for a low. More on this when I talk about exercise.

Emergency supplies. I keep a couple of tubes of glucose gell which I haven’t had to use, YET, glocuse tablets which I have had to use once, and life savers. I also keep alcohol swabs.

Spares: Yes, I keep a spare blood sugar monitor with me, just in case. I also keep spare test strips, lancelets, and lancing device in my bag.

I also keep the labels the mail order pharmacy gives me in the bag, so that emergency medical personnel can figure out what I’m on.

I carry a distressed nylon large Ameribag. That way I have room for my mini-disk player, mini-disks, palm pilot, wallet, checkbook and my associated “cards”. (Credit, insurance, etc.)

It’s a lot of stuff to keep track of, but less stressful because my bag is always there now, and I always know what I have in it.

I ordered mine from Ebags, though I bought my first at the Container Store — they seem to only carry black medium microfiber bags. Yes, I have 4 now! One large navy microfiber bag for more formal days. I love my mocha bag.

Oh, and there customer service is just fabulous. The brown large broke, and I sent it back to them. One of the velcro fasteners came off, which I was living with, but the final straw was that the plastic strap came off. It no longer balanced properly on my shoulder and “regained it’s weight”. THEY SENT ME A NEW ONE!

[14
51
post-4062","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-gadgets","tag-ameribag
["GET
