{"id":420,"date":"2014-02-26T00:01:54","date_gmt":"2014-02-26T00:01:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kweaver.org\/diabetes\/restaurant-follow-up\/"},"modified":"2014-02-26T00:01:54","modified_gmt":"2014-02-26T00:01:54","slug":"restaurant-follow-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kweaver.org\/diabetes\/restaurant-follow-up\/","title":{"rendered":"Restaurant Follow-up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Though my insomnia counselor thinks I should avoid these confrontations, last week\u2019s incident has gone well for me.<\/p>\n<p>If you remember, I was first seated in a \u201chandicapped\u201d area of the restaurant, and then refused service because I have Dulce with me.&#160; At the time, she was wearing a vest clearly labeled \u201cService Dog\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The person who asked me to leave demanded that I show proof that she was a service dog (not allowed by ADA and by State Laws).<\/p>\n<p>I contacted the customer service department of Caf\u00e9 Brazil and they promised to follow up.&#160; They also sent me a gift card, with an amount on it that the server had never seen before.<\/p>\n<p>I did go to a different restaurant \u2013 the server did not acknowledge in any way until I mentioned her.&#160;&#160; Exactly what we want people to do.&#160; He did say her he had heard about the incident and was glad that the other restaurant was correct.&#160; He was also blown away on the amount on the card (and the tip I left).<\/p>\n<p>The insomnia counselor thinks this stress is bad for my health and that I should have produced the paper work.&#160; I do have a card that I had made by an online service for something like $5 but I feel funny producing it.&#160; <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Though my insomnia counselor thinks I should avoid these confrontations, last week\u2019s incident has gone well for me.
