{"id":544,"date":"2013-07-06T14:38:48","date_gmt":"2013-07-06T14:38:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kweaver.org\/diabetes\/customer-service\/"},"modified":"2013-07-06T14:38:48","modified_gmt":"2013-07-06T14:38:48","slug":"customer-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kweaver.org\/diabetes\/customer-service\/","title":{"rendered":"Customer Service"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was talking with some old friends today about Dulce as a service dog and I realized that how businesses treat us has been really influencing my purchasing decisions.\n<\/p>\n<p>It has come out of my mouth twice now:\n<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You know who treats her the best: restaurants and Nordstrom&#8217;s&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>Now we don&#8217;t go to a lot of restaurants, but when we do, they always treat her well.  She has been invited to stay for the evening and do clean up at several places &lt;smile&gt;.  Once, an employee got a little too into my face (an El Chico&#8217;s), but I felt like it was in a good way.  Most of the time, when people have a lot of questions, I find out they have a family member who could use a dog.\n<\/p>\n<p>Only one employee at Nordstrom&#8217;s has looked at her oddly and it wasn&#8217;t OURs, it was at Stonebriar, and we were passing through to get to the Microsoft store.\n<\/p>\n<p>Our Nordstrom&#8217;s, the Galleria, treats her exactly right, talking about her, not to her, and ignoring her for the most part.  That&#8217;s exactly the right attitude to take with a service dog.  Asking if they need water is great, but I have taken care of her already.\n<\/p>\n<p>And I have not purchased anything at Lane Bryant&#8217;s since the debacle even though the district manager fixed the problem.\n<\/p>\n<p>Its customer service people. And the way to handle the situation \u2013 ignore her.
