{"id":821,"date":"2011-05-15T10:16:01","date_gmt":"2011-05-15T10:16:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kweaver.org\/diabetes\/dog-shows-and-testing-blood-sugar\/"},"modified":"2011-05-15T10:16:01","modified_gmt":"2011-05-15T10:16:01","slug":"dog-shows-and-testing-blood-sugar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kweaver.org\/diabetes\/dog-shows-and-testing-blood-sugar\/","title":{"rendered":"Dog shows and testing blood sugar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Okay, to begin with dog shows and testing blood sugar doesn\u2019t really mix.&#160; My dogs have a couple of different attitudes about testing.&#160; Macy doesn\u2019t like it, Dulce thinks it\u2019s a super great opportunity to get into trouble as mom can\u2019t do much about it until she\u2019s done.<\/p>\n<p>Almost a blooper, I am really bad about not having my meter in my kit.&#160; I finally grabbed a spare and put it in the dog show bag, but guess what, it\u2019s missing.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday I was in Denton showing, which I actually liked.&#160; Very small facility, very small rings, but managed to get close parking each day.&#160; Since I don\u2019t groom on site, it was great (this one grooms outside under cover).&#160; <\/p>\n<p>I grabbed my chair, set up against the wall but opposite the ring gate, thinking that would give me some breathing room.&#160; NOPE!&#160; My pump alarm went off to test, and people were climbing over me WITH their dogs to get to the next space.&#160; ARGH!&#160; <\/p>\n<p>One woman and her dog were literally on top of us, said excuse me, and I said \u201cSorry, I\u2019m trying to test my blood sugar\u201d and woman STILL climbed over us, and took our space.&#160; Honestly, I cannot test and control my dog at the same time and I shouldn\u2019t have had to.<\/p>\n<p>Oh well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Okay, to begin with dog shows and testing blood sugar doesn\u2019t really mix.&#160; My dogs have a couple of different attitudes about testing.&#160; Macy doesn\u2019t like it, Dulce thinks it\u2019s a super great opportunity to get into trouble as mom can\u2019t do much about it until she\u2019s done.
