18 Years

I just figured it out, and was pretty sure of this.  I was hired at the beginning of the 1992-1993 school year and this is the end of 18 years of teaching.  I think I have six more until retirement, but that depends entirely on the TRS rules.

I have gone through 6 principals.  Even more deans or associate principals of instruction.  And assistant principals are too many to count.  The title has changed several times through the years.  One of my friends who is retiring this year after 35+ years (I think 36) reminded me today of our favorite and least favorite leaders.

The weird part is the number of people left in the building who have taught at our school longer than I have.  Not many.  I’m thinking only about 3, certainly less than 5.

And of course, some of our students were born after I started teaching.  In fact MOST!

Weird.
