  • Another Rear End Accident

    It gets worse.

I was off school and headed for the chiropractor who is fixing me from a rear-in collusion that happened on May 9th.  Lady yelling at her kids hit me at a light.

I needed something to eat as I wasn’t going to be home and decided to try Long John Silvers (they do a plank of fish and fries for 2.15 after tax and I only ate a couple of fries).  Was waiting for the order when the rear of my Escape went airborne, was slammed forward at least 1 1/2 car lengths and landed.  Guy behind me hit his accelerator by accident.  88 years old, former marine and couldn’t hear a word I said.

I totally freaked when my car went airborne and starting screaming and didn’t feel like stopping.  Long John Silver’s called 911.

A very nice Dallas PD cop did an accident report and explained to me what happened — basically his car slid under mine.  Long John Silver’s gave me a horrible drink free (sugar free, no carbonation, nasty stuff), but it was wet.  While the cop did the accident report I ate the fish.  Thankfully I did because I didn’t get to eat until 10:00.

Did go to dog agility but it wasn’t pretty.  Mostly went for the sympathy.

Everything hurts right now, already called in sick.  I’ll have pictures of the other car later.

  • A little better

The numbers worked just a little too well, but the place where I train dogs indoors had some red vines and two did the trick.

To go back.  I went to my endo for the emergency appointment.  At the time I was completely numb, which was better than the weekend or last week.  The weekend I spent mostly sad and some angry, and spent a quite a bit of the week angry.

He gave me a complete new set of numbers, which I put in the pump as soon as I had a stopping point.

Had my morning caffeine after and a McD’s cookie (actually in the other order), because I had forgot my lunch and nothing else seemed appealing that I could get drive through.  In fact, I ordered three and ate one, and I have no idea where I put the other two, probably the trash somewhere.

Had lunch at dinner time, and had dinner an hour or so ago.  (Both from Diet Gourmet).

So food better even though I’m eating at weird times for me.  I have to listen to the band and do what it says.  If it is too tight, I can’t even get water down.

Doctor did say there wasn’t a major wand, and I am expecting to be on the roller coaster a while.

  • Something is wrong

My blood sugar at 6:15 was 148 and at 8:15 it’s at 176 with a correction and no food.  Heading out to the endo in about 10 minutes.

  • Still not great

I’m still having some inexplicable blood sugar excursions, but at least they are on the meter now.

Still feeling really bad, but I’m letting my health care team convince me that the problem is the blood sugar and recent events and that it will get better.

  • A1C sucks and so does my general condition

My blood sugar is running too high and it came to a head Wednesday morning.  A1C is 9.0

I had to reschedule an endo appointment due to a school event, which was part of the problem.  Way too much stress going on.

Cannot seem to get it below 150, and usually above 250.  But at least I am testing now.

  • Bret Michaels

I was pleasantly surprised to watch Celebrity Apprentice and see that Bret Michaels can behave like a decent human being.  Of course, he is easily distracted by women – that was shown on several episodes, but he did a great job of raising money for his cause – camps for diabetic kids.

Frankly, Rock of Love sucked and was horribly anti-female.  Sad when he is the father of girls and I don’t honestly think he would want his children treated the way women were on the show, nor do I think he would wanted them that limited.   He has also come off as a complete jerk in some interviews.

Apparently he doing well after his medical problems – he is on Oprah on Wednesday, and on Celebrity Apprentice Live on Sunday and back on tour.  I’ll be watching both on DVR.

  • Why I haven’t been posting

As I have said in my computer science blog, we lost a coworker — she passed away — and the resulting issues have kept me from posting.  Plus the new pup takes up a lot of time and energy.

We’ve had another issue come up at school — which has also upset the people around me.  Basically a coworker was put on administrative leave on the same day we learned of the death.  We’ve never had someone come back to our school after administrative leave, even when found not guilty.  I suspect they will completely close the position.

I’ve got to crawl back from all this and get back on target.  It isn’t easy.

  • Carb or Not to Carb

I eat carbs.  If I do primarily protein, I get gastric reflux. However, the lap band limits the amount of carbs I can eat.  Right now, can’t do much bread, much in the way of wraps, etc.  I can usually do a bit or two but not much more.  Crackers or anything salty doesn’t work either.

So I tend to drink my carbs…..  Favorite: McDonald’s Mochas.  Now I really like the Frappe Mochas but I found out that they are a third more carbs than the regular ones, so I am not doing them.

  • Did Too Much!

Came home from the chiropractor feeling very good – went to dog class, and while I didn’t go full out, I did way too much and feel it today.  I’ll do better tonight, I promise.

  • Biggest Diabetes Supporter

    Today’s Diabetes Blog Week post

My endo’s office had the most awesome CDE I’ve ever had.  I miss her bad, as they didn’t replace her when she left. My favorite comment from her was when I said I couldn’t get more than 200 units from an infusion set — and she said "duh", change them.

And I’ve changed my sets at 200 units ever since.  Makes it easy since Animas makes cartridges that big.

Lately, my best supporter is the dietcian at TLC Edge, as my biggest problem is that I can’t eat everything on my plate.  I’m having to give myself insulin after I eat, and I would guess that I forget one at least once a day.

In fact, my A1C is at its highest, 9!

So yes, I really need a supporter.
