Ken — you brought up a good point about taking stuff. That’s one reason I picked the hotel I did — okay, Metrowerks (putting on the seminar), picked the hotel, but it’s the type I like.
But first things first — the gadget.
I have the coolest cooler
It doesn’t chill — you need to make sure that the items are cold before you put them in, but it does keep them at a good refrigerated temperature.
The other good thing about the cooler, is that I can take spare insulin and not have to worry about it going bad.
I got mine about 3 years ago at Walmart. It came with both the car and wall adapter, but usually they only come with the one. And the wall adapters can be expensive. You are also supposed to be able to hook it up to a car battery for camping.
I’m planning on taking my regular meals and some snack items. Glucerna works very well for me. Rabbit food doesn’t. The good news, is that if I really need something to much on, all the major fast food restaurants have salads, which I am good at doing.
Also, your average BBQ restaurant is good if you get meat, no sauce, and green beans.
The hotel I am staying at is a suite hotel with a kitchenette and a seperate bedroom. I stayed at an Embassy suites several years ago for a week long conference and it was super. Did the same thing that time — brought my food with me, and had some snack items too.
