Resolution:
They tried reviving the software but couldn’t. They are replacing the mainboard so it wasn’t something I could resolve but they were able to reproduce the issue using both Dexcom G7 and an AirTag.
They did say not to restore the phone but treat it as a new phone in case it was a software issue.
I like to document these things in case someone else has this issue or it occurs again.
For weeks now, I have been having random issues with my iPhone not working properly with third party bluetooth things. Like my BedJet. My InBody scale. My Dexcom G7. Haven’t noticed issues with the Omnipod until last night.
Time to change everything. Inserted a Dexcom G7 15 day and was planning on letting it soak. So didn’t try any Bluetooth things.
Did the Omnipod 5 first. Went through two pods until I decided to try the PDM. It worked. Wouldn’t connect even though I had turned Bluetooth on and off, and rebooted the phone. Omnipod is replacing those pods.
I immediately connected the PDM to the G7, but it hasn’t warmed up yet. Tried pairing it with the phone and the phone couldn’t find the sensor.
And of course, as these things do, the sensor failed about 4:00 am.
I do have a Genius Bar appointment for this afternoon. I want to go to a real Apple Store for this kind of issue.
Will be updating the blog with the finalization but I am currently in Auto mode.
