Been meaning to post this for a while, after the Omnipod panic, I went to my doctor’s portal and still couldn’t put my question in good words, so I checked and he had an open appointment Monday morning.

My second encounter with him.

We talked out the issues and he gave me some options. I left with them and spent the week thinking about them.

I decided to go with the higher dose of Mounjaro. It has scared me because I’ve been fairly lucky with side effects so far.

I asked for the new prescription, he put it in the system and acknowledged it before 10:00 am, shortly after I got an email from Amazon Pharmacy telling me not only was it ready but they would ship it that day. Really lucky since that is my shot day.

It came and I’ve been on it for two doses now with no objectionable side effects. I’m using under 25 units of insulin but I got a new phone and the algorithm reset so my blood sugar isn’t as smooth as I would like.

Once it smoother my appetite will be more supressed. I hope.

I’ve got more news, but it will have to wait.

My insulin usage has gone from over 100 units a day to three times this week – 7 units.

If you look at the Omnipod documentation, it’s only been approved for usage of 6 units a day.

For those of you who stumbled on this post, I was diagnosed in 2002, and was put on insulin shortly after.

My heaviest weight is 320. I’m at 215.

This miracle has been accomplished by using Mounjaro. Between Mounjaro, my weight loss and my activity level, I don’t use as much insulin.

I felt like I needed a plan but I couldn’t figure out how to ask for the plan through the portal. I also thought we need a conversation.

We did.

We’ve decided to keep using the Omnipod and see what happens between now and the next appointment.

We also decided to up my dose of Mounjaro when it needs to be refilled, since I have one pen and two boxes left. I’ll let you know what the Omnipod does when I get to less than 6 units.

My G7 just expired and I am in the grace period. I have the new one on and waiting for the warmup.

Very happy and I can move it to the other arm along with my Omnipod.

Lost signal a few times but otherwise was fine.

Really liked the new guy. Best year, this practice is closer to the house and is in my previous endo’s office.

I walked in complaining of blood sugars, especially at night and especially due to weight loss.

I attempted to fix by changing my carb ratio from 13 – 24. He said it wasn’t exactly what he would suggest but it was close enough.

He suggested an additional safe guard, which was to change my target from 110 to 130 for night time hours. I was still lower than I liked last night but I will give it another day and then raise it as needed.

Just “installed” my first Dexcom G7 15 day sensor. Will be coming back here to record what happened.

It does have a 60 minute warm up rather than 30. I did the overlap.

Readings are very close to the readings on my old Dexcom G7. Very little gap.

Had no issue pairing with my Omnipod 5. Having a bit of issue connecting my watch but I usually do.

The end is SO funny.

5.9. Baby steps. It might not be statistically significant but I am down from 6.0 and was hovering between 6.5 and 7.0

No lows.

I saw my primary care physician and was at my lowest weight and size in over a decade. Maybe two. I am also at my highest muscle mass.

I had an appointment with my endocrinologist last week. He was thrilled with all my numbers. He also reminded me that I was doing body recomposition and looks different than just weight loss. We both join the same contests at our gyms so he knows I focus on weight training.

But my primary care physician wasn’t. She focused that I wasn’t losing weight as fast she wanted. She always wants to add medication rather than wait it out.

So now I am doubting myself.

My A1C came back with a 6.0. Down from 6.1 so not statistically significant but was struggling with a 6.7 for a while.

I was a bit worried because I had a few high blood sugars this weekend but I guess they didn’t affect it that much.
