Blood sugar was almost too low last night

I woke up clammy and feeling funny, and with a blood sugar of 89. I did sleep in a bit and did use my “non-exercise basal”.

I’m going to start changing my evening basal again, since I’m “back” to where I was.

And yesterday insulin use was actually under 40 units.

I just discovered your blog. What a treat! It will take me a while to fully explore it, but I’m sure it will be worth the effort.
I’m only 2 weeks into my diagnosis and just had my first adjustment of Glucophage from 500 to 1000. Although I’m in the medical field, I didn’t know squat about insulin resistance and syndrome X, but in retrospect I’m sure that I had it for the last 10 years at least and that I converted to type 2 diabetes at least a year ago if not two. I am going to be 48, but my dad didn’t get it until his late 50s…and both his parents were quite elderly when they were diagnosed. I knew it would happen eventually as I had a 10-1/2 pound baby 30 years ago and I’ve fought a losing battle against my weight in the interim. My biggest fear is heart disease as my mother had her first MI at 51. After a bypass at 56, she went vegetarian (lacto-ovo) and went off nearly all her meds, dying of pancreatic CA 20 years later. She didn’t have major weight issues, so I know I’m a walking time bomb. Just thought I had more time to get my act together.
So I, too, take the diagnosis very seriously. I don’t want to lose digits or extremities from the diabetes or succumb to heart disease in the near future. I’m still in panic mode but am trying to educate myself so I’ll make sound decisions.
If I remember correctly, you have a border collie? I’ve got an Aussie who does a good job with our sheep and poultry. Agility always sounded fun to me. Someone shared Suzanne Clothier with me recently and I loved it (Bones Would Rain from the Sky). It’s made us both more patient, and our dog has responded in kind.
I’ll be checking back. Thanks for blogging your story.
