I did 36 carbs for breakfast, bolused for 18 and did 20 units of Symlin.
I woke up about 1:30 with sympthoms of hypoglycemia. Not bad though. Tested and was at 108, so I ate a serving of sugar and bolused for the carbs and went back to sleep.
I figure the end result proves I did things right, because I woke up with a blood sugar of 108, which is a good morning blood sugar for me.
Here’s the difference between the two events — the earlier 108 was a crash, where I was on my way to a lower blood sugar, while this 108 is a stable one. It’s hard to explain if you haven’t been through it, but a stable blood sugar feels very different from a dropping blood sugar.
I’ve also read some studies where there is a definate lag time between brain blood sugar and fingerstick blood sugar.
Not only does this tell me that my bolus rate is set right for that time of day, but it also tells me that my nighttime basal rates are pretty on the money. I haven’t touched them.
I go to .80 at midnight
Then 1.05 at 4:00 am to counteract dawn phenomenon.
One of my biggest debates with myself, is when do I want the higher agility rate to kick in — remember that we’re always working 2 hours ahead — meaning if I want a higher basal rate at 8:00 am, I need to make the change at 6:00 am. So that’s what I’ve done. I go to 1.45 at 6:00 am

I may have screwed up. I just noticed while at the line that Marcie was entered in Excellent JWW A and not B.
Just as we were going in the ring.
It is probably my mistake.
It’s because I put a little too much faith in technology and didnLt check well enough.

I really like Jon Katz’s articles, and this one is top on my list. Too many people ascribe human emotions, etc. to dogs. And it always gets in the way of finding a solution.
Owners assume their pet’s brain works like their own. That’s a big mistake.
We’re up in McKinney trialing this weekend. I’m still having odd foot pains and now hip pain, plus it is just hot, so it isn’t going well.
The good news is that both dogs are running the whole run with me and aren’t taking nose led excursions,
I am seeing an improvement in my running ability, but I still have quite a way to go before I feel “well”.
I’ve got my backup power charging just in case and we got all the loose stuff picked up in the yard.
I have plenty of supplies, medication, insulin, and symlin. Also have a full tank of gas.
We’re in Dallas and should be fairly okay but worried a bit by supplies especially 90-day as Medco has been very slow shipping.
On the weight front, I had a pleasant surprise this morning. The scales showed a two pound loss. I suspect its true as my insuilin use remains low. The scales have been ‘stuck’ all week just at 270.x
I am anxious to see my CDE on Wednesday. I am predicting a 10 to 15 pound loss since Symlin.
Diabetes Mine: Look Who’s Talking Self-Disclosure (on dLife), and The Great Glycemic Index Debate
It’s interesting that you bring this up TODAY when I have to remind people.
I get really sick when my blood sugar is too high and I got high during a staff dvelopment session today. So high, that the first person I reminded was the school nurse and the second people were the people running the session so they would know why I was madly typing on my Treo. More on a non-trackback entry.
