  • Agility Trials

We’re up in McKinney trialing this weekend. I’m still having odd foot pains and now hip pain, plus it is just hot, so it isn’t going well.

The good news is that both dogs are running the whole run with me and aren’t taking nose led excursions,

I am seeing an improvement in my running ability, but I still have quite a way to go before I feel “well”.

  • Rita and other things

I’ve got my backup power charging just in case and we got all the loose stuff picked up in the yard.

I have plenty of supplies, medication, insulin, and symlin. Also have a full tank of gas.

We’re in Dallas and should be fairly okay but worried a bit by supplies especially 90-day as Medco has been very slow shipping.

On the weight front, I had a pleasant surprise this morning. The scales showed a two pound loss. I suspect its true as my insuilin use remains low. The scales have been ‘stuck’ all week just at 270.x

I am anxious to see my CDE on Wednesday. I am predicting a 10 to 15 pound loss since Symlin.

Diabetes Mine: Look Who’s Talking Self-Disclosure (on dLife), and The Great Glycemic Index Debate

It’s interesting that you bring this up TODAY when I have to remind people.

I get really sick when my blood sugar is too high and I got high during a staff dvelopment session today. So high, that the first person I reminded was the school nurse and the second people were the people running the session so they would know why I was madly typing on my Treo. More on a non-trackback entry.

  • Stabalizing

I am doing better this afternoon. I am very shocked that it is taking such a high basal rate to compensate for the workshop. I’m at 40%!

  • Doing a bit better

The correction helped. I’m back at 146 but man I want a nap! Being high wears me out. Also hungry but I don’t want to add any more sugar to the mix.

Now I have to watch and make sure I don’t go low.

  • I was right

    Now I’m at 115.

FYI: There are several reasons I’m blogging this. For one, these rollar coasters affect the mind and I need to know what is going on so I can discuss with my CDE and the rest of the health team.

I might not remember exactly what went on.

Also if anyone else has clue with this, I would love some input.

  • So do I walk or not?

I have to decide in a hurry — August 13 is our graduation. I guess one thing to find out, is if they make robes and hoods big enough… I could call in the morning.

I should explain … I have been working on my master’s degree for a long time. I took my first master’s classes back in 1990. Of course, I didn’t intend to get a degree then, I was working on a post-Bachelor’s degree teaching certification.

I had decided that I should take a few extra classes and get certified in Math, which has helped in flexibility, especially getting my first teaching job.

When I finished those classes, my advisor was looking at my transcript and said, “hey, if you take x number of classes and write a thesis, you could have a Master’s in Math”. Well, I took the classes, and couldn’t get going on the thesis.

A few years later, I got the bright idea of getting my master’s in Computer Science. Unfortunately I switched university’s — I’m not even sure the other one offers a Master’s in CS — and that department wasn’t teacher friendly.

Then I decided I wanted a technology certification. I could do it with 4 online courses. Better yet, after I signed up for the first two class, the university refunded my tuition. Long story.

In the middle of the last two classes, I found out I qualified for a program my district was putting on. When I turned in my degree plan, they gave me credit for two classes and I figured out I could finish this August if I took two classes this summer.

So I’m about done. I hope. I still have an assignment and a paper for one class, and an annotated biography, a “final exam”, and 5 more weeks of discussions.

My husband says he’ll come watch. I haven’t heard from my mother. I don’t know who else I’d invite. I really don’t know any of the other people who are graduating in August — the group from the district doesn’t finish until this spring.

Regalia costs $100. So I just don’t know right now, but I need to decide if I’m going to soon.

  • Extremely Disappointing

I find it very disappointing that there is no progress being made on continous monitors. See snapshots of blood sugar readings is NOT helpful.

Also that means we won’t be seeing a closed loop system anytime soon. A close loop system, for those who aren’t in the know, is an insulin pump that operates automatically. For that to happen we have to have a continous glucose monitor and it will have to have been out of the market long enough to be known to be reliable.
