  • Stepped it up

After several days of doing 60 minutes of cardio (bike), I’m slowly adding strength back to the mix.  Just abs and back today, but it’s a start.

A at home brag – yesterday I got out the pressure washer and washed down the furniture on the deck, the grooming table, and all the crates downstairs.  It’s been a while since I’ve done any of them – and finally discovered what that chewed up yellow gadget was for (soap for the power washer).  Replacement coming from EBay.

  • Made it to a full hour of cardio

Of course, it might not be easy to repeat, but I had enough carbs on board and enough entertainment to keep me on the bike for a full hour.  Though the seat gets uncomfortable after a while.

  • Pillpack unboxing #1

This is a result of a miscalculation, probably on my part.   So far I am happy.   I get my first full shipment soon.

They are working on their first difficult refill.  If I don't have to do more than go to an appointment, I will be happy.

The box and the contents from Pillpack.

  • Stepping it up

Right after I changed states in January, I almost immediately lost 5 pounds.  I have been maintaining that weight lose ever since, so I realized I needed to step things up.  I have been consistent at the gym, so I am taking a break from strength and stepping up my cardio.  once I am consistent at the new rate, I will add the strength back slowly.  I am up to 45 minutes, so I am half way there.  so far no blood sugar issues.

  • Effort to get away from Express Scripts

I’ve blogged on the Express Scripts think way to much, but I’m hoping to have put a middle man between myself and Express Scripts.  It’s called Pillpack.com

    https://www.pillpack.com/

I haven’t found a referral link but if you sign up, tell them I sent you.

I found out about them in January, but they couldn’t do Texas until a few weeks after I had already refilled my meds.

I am getting a shipment this week of the first medication I’ll run out of.  In fact, it’s already in UPS hands and in Kentucky.

So far, emailing them has been great.  I don’t think I’ve talked to anyone on the phone and that always makes me happy.

Hopefully I’ll be rid of the stack of pills.  And yes, I have come close to running out of medications in the past by taking a break from managing them.  Hopefully I won’t have to do deal with that again.

  • Took a Nordstrom break…

Ryan in Kate Somerville gave me a call, and asked if I wanted to come in for a facial.  If you live near Nordstrom’s, the Kate Somerville is great as they give a mini facial.  Now if you have the money and time, the Facial’s in the real spa are out of this world.

I always buy something (the right thing to do when someone gives you something free at a store) and this time it was:

    Kate Somerville Quench Hydrating Serum

I also bought some Bobby Brown, I like this eyeliner because of the smudger on the other end.  My beauty stylist says that color in eyeliner is in for spring.

The art stick is for both lips and cheeks.  There are several colors, I picked Blush Pink because I am fair.  The link takes you to Raspberry, but you can get to the individual colors by clicking the Bobby Brown link.

Shop new beauty trends for spring now at NORDSTROM. Plus, get free shipping and returns on every order.

  • People say the darnest things when they see a service dog

Dulce and I started going to church two weeks ago.  I think I blogged about the first week.

I would love for this to get out to the world.

First: please teach your children not to scream puppy when they see a service dog.  It’s annoying and disturbs everyone else.  Sadly, last Sunday what appeared to be a functioning adult pulled this.  I could be wrong, we’ve been puppies by handicapped adults before.

Stop them gently when they do it, don’t add to the disruption.

Second: someone suggested that they get a vest for their dog – was sitting at the next pew so it was hard to get away.  We had sat near them last week so I knew they knew Dulce’s behavior.  I asked if the dog behaved as well, and he said that it did, so hey, bring it on.  I also was wondering if he thought I had done that – I assured him that she had had a lot of training.

My husband’s answer to that: you can have her chronic disease too.

Third: thanks for the compliment, but no, I’m not training her.  In line with this – take a minute to read the vest.  Mine has all the information you need to know about her.

Fourth: don’t ask what she is for – I will tell you but I will also explain to you that you are violating my medical privacy.

Finally: compliments are always welcome, but I’m never sure what to say about “I love your dog”.  I’ve finally decided to say, “ Thank you, I love her too”.

It reminds me yet again about how much public I have made my condition.

  • Need to figure out “Church”

I either need to pick a smaller church, or figure out this church.  I started going to church last week and its one of those hard to figure out.

Long walk from the parking log – then sitting for a long time – then another long walk back to the car.

I like First Baptist Church of Dallas.  My daddy was really happy I ended up here in Dallas, as he listened to the worship services on radio and really enjoyed the church.  So he asked me to come there first.

I enjoyed it until the height of the AIDS crisis.  They didn’t really deal with that well, but now it is a different pastor and a different time.

Dulce alerted when we got to our pew, so I checked and I was still good, but rapidly dropping.  She doesn’t really like rapid dropping.  I knew that the sitting part would take care of things.

At the end of service she alerted again today, but I knew we probably had time to get to the car.  We would have probably if I hadn’t gotten lost, but I did get help getting me to the car.  Ended up with two glucose tablets.

Eating at Spaghetti Warehouse, so should be good for a few hours.

  • Nordstrom too expensive?

I’ve invited a few people to come to Nordstrom events to me, and I occasionally get the response: Oh, they are too expensive.

I’ve also seen a friend post on Facebook lately, that she’s been finding holes in her clothing and where can she find better clothing?

I’ve got the answer to both – yeah, Nordstrom.

First, within the store (and online store, itself), there are different price points.  My favorite pants are NYDJs.  Sejour isn’t as pricy but I will say that the NYDJs fit better.  But, I can also get NYDJ’s at Nordstrom Rack and occasionally at Haute Look.  My hint there:  make sure you know which NYDJs fit best, and look for them at Haute Look events.

I also recommend getting the store card – but every since Target got hit, I really recommend getting store cards.  I get double points every time I spend money – triple points on special days (they just had one) and after 2000 points, I get $20 in notes.  The secret is to put the notes on a gift card.  They don’t expire and spend at Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack.

Also if you are a real loyal customer, the store will give you a gift card on a random basis.  I’ve gotten 2 $50 cards because I use the personal shopping service – oh, and differently do that.  I also get extra gifts with purchase from the Beauty Spot, besides those that the manufacturer give out with purchase.

Oh, and their events are to die for.  I took a friend from the gym Saturday, we got there at 7:00 am Sad smile Got lots of samples – free breakfast, and a fun fashion show.  Afterward, all the reps were there and we got pampered by them.  I had two different people in my hair giving me ideas, she got full makeup and we both got free facials from Kate Somerville.  Love Kate’s products and love their free facial.

Today I got an email giving me $25.00 off of Haute Look, sadly didn’t find anything today, but I’ll keep my eye out.  Only thing I don’t like about Haute Look: they don’t take Nordstrom Credit.  They do do Paypal.

If you would like an invite to Haute Look, let me know in the comments, I get $10 credit for each invite.
