Insulin Users and TSA – Insulin Users GET OVER YOURSELVES!

I have refused to fly since becoming an insulin users. It takes me three months to use up a bottle

Seriously. I am getting SO pissed off over all the indigent diabetes who are upset about the TSA rules.

I've had to deal with TSA rules for several years and have to deal with a full pat down and full swabbing of all of my belongings since the "shoe bomber".

Know you have to deal with it, be prepared and finally GET OVER YOURSELF.

Show me that the rules have any reality and basis with this stupid War on Terror, and you might have a point. Otherwise it has done what it seems to have meant to do. Antagonize people such that they don’t want to travel by air anymore.

I never said that the rules DID anything. However, they are in place and they arent going away.
If someone truly wants to take an airliner down, it will happen. Oh, gee, it already did (twice).
What I said, was get over yourself. You are not special, you are not entitled to anything. doesnt matter if you are diabetic, blind, or only have one leg, you have to put up with whatever one else puts up with.
If I want to fly somewhere, I put up with a pat down and a swab down of all of my belongings. It happens EVERY time I fly.
If I dont want to put it up with it, I dont fly. I choose two flying trips last year and one driving trip.
When you fly, you know what the illogical rules are ahead of time, and know that those rules probably will change without notice.

“If I want to fly somewhere, I put up with a pat down and a swab down of all of my belongings. It happens EVERY time I fly.”
I’ve had my hassles through security myself, and I’m one of the few ones that actually got home from a flight on 9/11. And I probably will endure them again the next time I fly. I’m lucky that I currently don’t have a lot of medical equipment that I need to take with me, my glucose meter is about it. In fact, it was rather chilling to find out what happened, when I made the mental note as I was going home that security certainly seemed to be lackadaisical, and that it had been years, if not decades, since the last time I could remember a hi-jacking.
But in the end, it IS their decision. There really isn’t any “Get over yourself” to it. They want to complain about it. I follow your blog enough to know that you complain about certain things as well. I complain about things myself. It’s your blog, you own it, and you can complain about anything you want. 🙂 I do the same on my blog.
But following rules just because there are rules with nothing truly underlying them is silly. And if they are so mercurial that they change without notice, then they’ve passed from being silly to down right stupid. And I, for one, have enough stupidity in my life to deal with.
I fly only when I have to. Alaska because that’s too much of a drive, Indiana because I had to get there fast, and South Africa because you can’t even think about driving to there from Florida. That’s this year. Times before 9/11 I would normally have taken a plane, I drive now. But again, that is my choice.

Frankly, someone does need to come up with a better system. In the meantime …
And remember I’m a teacher. We’re very much into arbituary rules.
Also, if we stop flying the system will HAVE to change.
Nice to know someone reads me!
