Bad diabetic agility day

When my blood sugar is high when I wake up, it’s really hard for me to eat.  Sometimes I can do eggs and bacon.  Today, I just didn’t feel like eating at all, and never got around to it.

Then I did an agility run.  NOT good, I was dizzy, feeling hypo, etc.  Didn’t remember I had emergency sugar in my keychain which is in my chair pockets.  I just couldn’t figure out what to do.  I went to the car, sat down and slowly forced down my breakfast.

Then I forgot to bolus for that, but wasn’t super high.  Just over 200, which I was all day yesterday.

Also, it was cold.  When I woke up at 6:00 am it as 42 degrees, and when I came back from getting warm inside and out (got a warm lunch), it was 44.

Marcie and I are doing okay though.  We rarely have more than one mistake, though we had two in Standard this morning.  And she ran clean but I was so stiff from the cold that I was slow and we were 7 seconds over time.

Most of the time these days, we’re clean but over time.

Maggie on the other hand, decided that I wasn’t listening to her when she said it was too cold to do agility.  She ran out of the ring.  I told the people at ringside, if they would get give her food, she’d stop but they were all horrified at that idea.  Probably something about rewarding the behavior I’m sure.  Well, when she’s in agility mode you can’t pick her up — she won’t let me, and I know she won’t let strangers.  So I grabbed my food on the way out of the ring (we stash it handy), and got her to sit and stay while someone else got my leash (it was on the other side of the ring).

I took her comment this time, put her in the truck and took her home.

I think it’s too cool that you do agility. Don’t you hate it when the dog decides for you? And when you have to acknowlege that the dog is right? Grrr.
